Historical churches in Belgium and the Netherlands undergo restoration

Restoration efforts are progressing at the Sint-Martinuskerk in Aalst, Belgium. The vaults of the western section have been completed, and work has begun on the reconstruction of the monumental organ case. The organ, which features more than 3,000 pipes, is a central part of the interior. While the church building is scheduled for completion by November 11, 2027, the organ restoration is expected to continue until approximately Easter 2028.

In Uden, Netherlands, the Sint-Petruskerk is set to undergo a new lighting project starting October 5. Designed by Het Lux Lab, the project uses modern LED technology to restore the monument's nighttime visibility, as the previous lighting system had been decommissioned for safety reasons. The work involves replacing existing light masts and installing new ones to highlight the church's architectural features, with completion expected by late November.
