Historical commemorations held in Spain to honor royal figures

Cultural events in Spain have recently focused on significant historical figures of the Spanish monarchy. In Almería, the Cathedral of the Incarnation hosted a theatrical production titled ‘Boda real. El matrimonio que cambió el mundo’. The play reenacted the clandestine 1469 marriage of Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon, an event credited with transforming Spanish history.

In Granada, the Monastery is organizing a program to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the birth of Isabella of Portugal, wife of Emperor Charles V. The event, scheduled for October 23, includes historical recreations of the 16th-century imperial court, access to exhibitions, and a musical performance featuring organ and classical guitar in the monastery church.
