Historical documents recovered in Peru and Paraguay

In Peru, the historical Libro de Actas del Cabildo de Huamanga has been returned to the Ayacucho Regional Archive. The document, which covers the period from March 18, 1808, to August 22, 1810, was recovered in Argentina in 2022 following illegal trafficking. The 219-folio book contains 94 records detailing the political and social life of Huamanga during the crisis of the Spanish monarchy and the events preceding independence, including oaths of loyalty to King Ferdinand VII.

In Paraguay, a massive digital project titled ‘Memoria escrita de un gigante 1845-1904’ has been launched using artificial intelligence. The initiative has recovered, digitized, and organized over 106,000 pages of newspapers and historical documents, totaling approximately 290.6 million words. The archive, which includes manuscripts and songs, has been presented to the Ministry of Education and Sciences and is available online to support researchers and educators.
