Historical heritage of Sivas and Sille highlighted

The historical regions of Sivas and Sille in Turkey are highlighting their deep archaeological and cultural roots spanning thousands of years. Sivas has served as a significant center throughout various civilizations, including the Hittites, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks, and Ottomans. Key architectural landmarks in the city include the Gök Medrese, Buruciye Medresesi, and Çifte Minareli Medrese.

In the Sille district, archaeological research indicates settlement dating back to the Chalcolithic period, approximately 5,000 years ago. The area served as a Roman necropolis, and local tradition holds that Saint Helena visited the region, leading to the construction of the Aya Eleni Church. Current museum exhibits in Sille include a 1700s Kaaba inner covering, historical manuscripts, and famous local carpets that have gained international recognition in Italy and Spain.
