Historical landmarks in Romania and Moldova undergo restoration

Historical landmarks in Romania and Moldova are undergoing significant restoration projects to preserve regional heritage.

In Bucharest, the historic fence of the 'Ion Heliade Rădulescu' School, a monument built in 1896, will be rehabilitated. The project, coordinated by Sector 1 authorities, includes the consolidation of 40 fence sections, cleaning of limestone elements, restoration of ceramic decorations and wrought iron, and the reactivation of a historical fountain. The work is authorized by the Ministry of Culture to ensure the preservation of the protected Kiseleff area.

In Fălești, Moldova, the former primary school known as the 'Red School' will be restored through European Union funding via the 'Interreg Next Romania – Republica Moldova 2021-2027' program. The building, which has suffered from degradation for decades, will be transformed into a cultural and tourism center. The renovation will preserve the original red brick architecture and will house craft centers for wood processing, sewing, and weaving, alongside an exhibition hall.
