In Greece, the Archaeological Museum of Athens was founded in 1866. Additionally, the first International Thessaloniki Exhibition opened in 1926, an event that later became known as HELLEXPO.

Other global events occurring on this date include the signing of the Treaty of Niš between the Ottoman Empire and Russia in 1739, the publication of the first issue of the comic book ‘Tex Willer’ (referred to as ‘Black’) in 1954, and the reunification of East Germany into the Federal Republic of Germany in 1990.
