Historical milestones: Yorktown, Bosnia annexation, and The Jazz Singer

October 6 marks several significant historical milestones. In 1781, the Siege of Yorktown began during the American Revolutionary War. Led by Generals George Washington and De Rochambeau, the allied forces besieged British commander Lord Cornwallis, whose eventual surrender directly influenced the end of the war.

In 1908, the Annexation Crisis occurred when Austria-Hungary officially annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina. This move, following the Young Turk Revolution in the Ottoman Empire, caused intense friction with Serbia and Montenegro. While Russia temporarily prevented war, the tensions contributed to the rise of the Black Hand organization and the eventual outbreak of World War I.

Additionally, on October 6, 1927, the first film with synchronized sound, ‘The Jazz Singer’, was released, produced by Warner Bros.
