Two distinct historical monuments in France are highlighted for their local heritage and significance.

In Saint-Omer, the monumental fountain on Place Victor Hugo, designed by engineer Nézot in 1756, commemorates the opening of the Neufossé canal between the Aa and Lys rivers. The structure features statues representing the two rivers and was classified as a historical monument in 1981.

In the village of Sarcus, a fountain and statue installed in 1935 honors Rodman Wanamaker, an American benefactor and honorary citizen. Wanamaker, a Philadelphian who was a protector of the arts and a Legion of Honor commander, funded several local projects, including a town hall-school and a church clock, following his connection to the village through a local merchant.
