Historical railways offer scenic heritage tours in China and the United States

Historical railways continue to serve as significant cultural and tourist attractions in different parts of the world.

In China, the Shiping Narrow Gauge Train operates on a section of the historic Yunnan to Vietnam Railway. Built between 1903 and 1910 by French engineers, the line was designed to transport minerals like tin and copper from Yunnan province to the Vietnamese port of Haiphong. It remains the only meter gauge main line still in operation in mainland China.

In the United States, the New Hope Railroad offers heritage trips along the Delaware River in Pennsylvania. The railroad operates steam and diesel locomotives on an 18-mile route through farmland and woods. The experience is centered around a historic 1891 depot, known locally as the Witch’s Hat Station, located in the riverside town of New Hope.
