Historical Rheingold special train excursion departs from Kiel

A historical special train excursion featuring legendary Rheingold carriages from the 1960s and former InterCity carriages is scheduled to depart from Kiel Main Station. The train, pulled by a Series 120 electric locomotive, will travel a route through Neumünster, Elmshorn, Hamburg, Lüneburg, Uelzen, and Hannover, arriving in Nuremberg after approximately six hours.

Passengers can choose to disembark in Nuremberg to visit the Christkindlesmarkt or in Würzburg to explore the local Christmas market. The event is a collaborative effort between the Eisenbahnfreunde Nordwestmecklenburg and the Rendsburger Eisenbahnfreunde. Proceeds from the trip will be used to fund the restoration of historical railway vehicles maintained by these associations.
