Historical sites and thermal baths in Baden-Württemberg

Baden-Württemberg features various historical sites and landmarks that offer insights into the region's past. Notable locations include the Kurhaus Sand on the Schwarzwaldhochstraße, a former grand hotel from the late 19th century that is now accessible to visitors on weekends through a non-profit association.

Other significant sites include the former military restricted area near Münsingen, which has transitioned into a large natural space containing the remains of the abandoned village of Gruorn. Additionally, the ruins of a water castle in Menzingen reflect centuries of history dating back to the medieval period.

In Bad Wildbad, the Palais Thermal represents a long history of thermal bathing. Originally developed from early spring-based facilities, a grand bathhouse was constructed between 1840 and 1847. Following orders from King Wilhelm I of Württemberg, the site was modernized and expanded, featuring architectural elements such as the Moorish Hall and intricate mosaics added during renovations between 1896 and 1901.
