Historical sites in Moldova and Romania undergo major renovations

Several historical sites in Moldova and Romania have undergone significant renovations to preserve cultural heritage and promote local tourism.

In Ocnița, Moldova, the central city park has been renovated for the first time in decades through the ‘European Village’ National Program. The project, costing over 3 million lei, included the rehabilitation of fountains, paved walkways, the installation of pergolas with swings, and a modern public lighting system. The park serves as a central administrative and cultural hub for the community, housing various public institutions and monuments dedicated to local figures.

In Fărcașele, Romania, a 500-year-old medieval tower in Hotărani has been restored using one million euros in European funding via the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Once near collapse, the structure has been consolidated to host exhibitions, conferences, and educational workshops. The site now features astronomical telescopes and archaeological replicas, though local officials face challenges regarding staffing for guides and maintenance.
