Historical sites in Poland face contrasting fates

A neo-Gothic hospital building in Lower Silesia remains abandoned and neglected. Constructed between 1883 and 1886 with funds from the Knights of Malta, the 2,400 square meter facility was originally a modern hospital with 85 beds.

Following its time as a hospital, the property served as a residence for a wealthy Jewish family before being nationalized by the Nazi regime. During that era, it functioned as a home for German girls, leading to unconfirmed rumors regarding its connection to the Lebensborn program. After World War II, the building was used as a school until its deteriorating condition forced it to be vacated. It currently remains empty.

In contrast, the Palace and Farmstead in Łochów has undergone extensive restoration. Located on 40 hectares near the Liwiec River, the XIX-century complex now operates as a four-star hotel. The site offers modern amenities including a wellness zone with a pool, jacuzzi, and saunas, catering to families and tourists seeking historical elegance near Warsaw.
