Historical sites in Segura de la Sierra and Cervera del Maestre
Segura de la Sierra, a medieval village located in the northeast of Jaén within the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park, holds significant cultural ties to the author Jorge Manrique. According to the Royal Academy of History, Manrique likely spent his childhood and early youth in this area, a connection reflected in official bibliographic records such as those from the National Library of Spain.
The village is part of the largest protected natural space on the Iberian Peninsula, covering over 209,000 hectares. The landscape is characterized by large forest masses, ravines, and significant altitude changes.
In the province of Castellón, the Molí de l’Oli in Cervera del Maestre serves as a historical interpretation center. This medieval oil mill, declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC), preserves a wooden press dating back to 1606. The site offers insight into traditional olive oil production methods and functions as a key tourist resource for the Maestrat region.
