Historical steam trains to run on Czech railway routes

Historical railway enthusiasts in the Czech Republic have several upcoming opportunities to experience vintage train travel.

On September 26, 2026, the Jindřichův Hradec narrow-gauge railway will host a special Railway Day. The event will feature a unique demonstration where two steam locomotives, the Polish-made ‘Polka’ (U46.101) and the Krauss-built U 37.002, will travel together on a single train. The U 37.002 is a renovated narrow-gauge locomotive originally produced at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Additionally, the H&H railway company is conducting its final retro train excursion of the season on August 30. This trip will travel through the Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj) region, following a route from Kolín through Poděbrady, Mladá Boleslav, Turnov, and Hrubá Skála, concluding in Jičín. The excursion offers passengers access to local landmarks such as Trosky Castle and the Hrubá Skála rock city.
