Hitachi advances AI solutions for social infrastructure and physical automation
Hitachi is expanding its technological capabilities in social infrastructure management through new AI-driven initiatives. Hitachi, Ltd. has developed a prototype system designed to accelerate situational judgment during equipment failures in sectors such as railways, power, and telecommunications. The system integrates dispersed information into a single interface, combining timelines with GIS-based maps to show the location of failures and the movement of workers. It utilizes AI to organize real-time field data and employs generative AI to summarize progress and automate report creation.
In a related move, Hitachi Solutions Technology has launched a Physical AI business. This initiative aims to integrate software for recognition and judgment with hardware like robots and drones to solve field challenges. Key applications include anomaly detection using LiDAR and cameras, maintenance support, safety management through intrusion detection, and skill transfer via voice AI. The company plans to demonstrate these technologies at the Hitachi Social Innovation Forum 2026 JAPAN.
