Hitachi launches AI platform to automate GMP pharma and line design

Hitachi Ltd and its subsidiary Hitachi Industrial Control Solutions have introduced a data‑integration platform for the pharmaceutical GMP sector. The platform consolidates manufacturing, testing and quality data and applies generative AI to streamline quality‑assurance tasks such as annual product reviews, deviation investigations and audit responses.

In a related effort, Hitachi partnered with Hungary’s HUN‑REN Institute (SZTAKI) to develop a generative‑AI and mathematical‑optimization system that automatically creates production‑line configurations. Tests on a battery‑manufacturing line showed engineering effort reduced by up to 87 %, with the AI translating natural‑language production requests into quantitative parameters for optimization models. The technology is slated for broader use in automotive, industrial machinery and other manufacturing domains.
