Hitachi-omiya Mayor to decide on nuclear waste literature survey
Hitachi-omiya Mayor Sadayuki Suzuki is expected to announce a decision regarding the government's request to conduct a literature survey for a high-level radioactive waste final disposal site.
Following a meeting with Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ryosei Akazawa, Mayor Suzuki indicated that his concerns regarding the survey have ‘almost been resolved.’ The Mayor expressed that addressing the issue of nuclear waste disposal is a ‘pressing national issue’ that must be addressed.
