HiteJinro and Pulmuone expand social welfare efforts ahead of Chuseok

South Korean food and beverage companies are expanding social contribution activities ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

HiteJinro and HiteJinro Holdings are providing support packages to 800 individuals, including 300 youth preparing for independence and 500 residents of Seoul's small-room villages (jjokbangchon). The support includes daily necessities such as shampoo, skincare products, and Bluetooth earphones, as well as vitamin packages containing apples and pears. This initiative has been a regular holiday tradition for the company since 2012.

Pulmuone Foodmerse, in collaboration with the Korea Association of Social Welfare Centers, is delivering food packages to vulnerable populations in remote and island regions. To date, the company has delivered 1,000 packages to various welfare centers, including locations in Jeju, Haenam, Inje, and Sokcho, with plans to expand to Baengnyeong Island.

Additionally, Pulmuone is reviewing the commercialization of healthy snack ideas proposed by its employees. Following a recent competition, four winning ideas—including crackers made from raw soy pulp and flourless rice syrup snacks—are being evaluated for potential market release.
