Hitradio Ö3 launches campaign to collect 500,000 mobile phones

Hitradio Ö3, in collaboration with the Austrian Post, Caritas, and Licht ins Dunkel, has launched the 22nd edition of the Ö3-Wundertüte campaign. The initiative aims to collect 500,000 old mobile phones across Austria.

Donated devices will be processed at the Caritas old mobile phone center in Vienna, where they will be tested and sorted for reuse or environmentally friendly recycling. The proceeds from these efforts support families in urgent need within Austria, helping to cover costs such as heating, food, and rent to prevent evictions.

Since 2005, the campaign has collected approximately 8.2 million devices. Participants can collect old phones and place them in the Ö3-Wundertüte, which is being distributed to households by the Austrian Post, and then drop them off at post offices or partners free of charge.
