Hiya launches AI security platform in Spain amid rising phone fraud

According to the ‘State of the Call 2026’ report by Hiya, 87% of Spaniards no longer respond immediately to calls from unknown numbers. This shift in communication habits is driven by increasing distrust due to telephone scams and sophisticated fraud methods.

The report highlights that 35% of Spanish consumers claim to have received calls using voice cloning or ‘deepfakes’ within the last year. On average, citizens receive eight unwanted calls per week.

In response, the AI-based security platform Hiya has officially launched in Spain, partnering with MasOrange to deploy its network. The company aims to restore trust in voice communication by helping operators, businesses, and consumers identify legitimate calls and combat spam and fraud in real time. This launch coincides with significant regulatory changes in the Spanish telecommunications sector, including the implementation of Law 10/2025 and the introduction of the 400 prefix for commercial calls in October.
