Hizmet-İş Union Retains Leading Position in Turkey's Labor Market
Mustafa Şahin, head of the Hak-İş Çorum branch and Hizmet-İş Çorum sub‑branch, reported that the Hizmet‑İş union continued to grow, keeping its top rank in Turkey's general‑work sector. According to the official statistics published on 28 July 2026, the union's membership rose to 286,094, an increase of about 10,000 from the previous period, confirming its status as the largest union within the Hak‑İş Confederation.
Şahin also highlighted that, although not reflected in official data, 144,142 home workers are now organized under the union, bringing the total membership to 430,236. He noted that the national workforce has reached 17,630,475, with a unionisation rate of 13.79 %. The union, which has been active for 48 years, reaffirmed its commitment to defending workers' rights across Turkey.
