HK Nitra concludes Champions Hockey League run and defeats Slovan Bratislava
HK Nitra has concluded its participation in the Champions Hockey League, earning eight points from six matches. Despite a decisive 5-1 victory over Sweden’s Rögle in their final appearance, the Slovak champions failed to advance to the playoff stage. Club president Miroslav Kováčik expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance against elite European competition, including opponents from Sweden, Finland, and Switzerland, noting the valuable experience gained after a nine-year absence from the tournament.
In domestic competition, HK Nitra secured a significant 4-0 victory against Slovan Bratislava in the 12th round of the Tipsport liga. Led by American goaltender Matt Jurusik, who recorded his third shutout for the team, Nitra dominated the match with goals from Ondrej Molnár, Matej Paulovič, Filip Bajtek, and Brett Pollock. This win marks Nitra’s third consecutive league triumph, moving them to 10th place in the standings.
