HKEX launches voluntary Green Equity designation for listed firms
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) has introduced the HKEX Green Equity designation, a voluntary program for listed companies with significant green business activities. The initiative aims to increase the visibility of qualifying businesses to global investors and provide a credible way to identify companies contributing to the green economy.
Under the framework, eligible companies must undergo independent assessments by Recognised Reviewers to evaluate their contributions to the green economy. Successful applicants may use the designation mark, provided they maintain ongoing compliance and undergo annual reassessments. The program is designed to align with globally recognized frameworks and promote the Hong Kong Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance.
The designation is part of HKEX’s broader low-carbon transition ecosystem, which includes climate disclosures and Core Climate products such as carbon credits and Green Electricity Certificates.
