Åhléns to close four outlet stores in Sweden

The Swedish department store chain Åhléns has announced the closure of four Åhléns Outlet locations due to profitability issues and failed lease negotiations. The affected stores, located in Eskilstuna, Sundsvall, Södertälje, and Torp in Uddevalla, will close gradually as current rental agreements expire through late 2026 and early 2027.

Monica Hultgren, a spokesperson for Åhléns, stated that the company decided not to extend the leases because the terms were not economically viable. While the outlet expansion is shrinking, the company will maintain nine other outlet locations across Sweden. The standard Åhléns department stores remain unaffected by these specific closures.
