H&M expands Brazilian operations with four new stores

Swedish retailer H&M has announced the opening of four new stores in Brazil, marking its first expansion into the country's Northeast region. Two of the new locations will be situated in shopping malls in Recife and Fortaleza, with openings scheduled for the second half of the year.

The remaining two stores will open in Rio de Janeiro. This expansion is expected to create approximately 1,000 new jobs. Once completed, H&M will operate a total of 13 stores across three Brazilian regions: Southeast, South, and Northeast.

Joaquim Pereira, CEO of H&M Brazil, stated that the Northeast is a significant market due to above-average shopping mall productivity and a strong existing customer base identified through online sales data. The company currently maintains a 24,000-square-meter distribution center in Extrema, Minas Gerais.
