H&M Group launches Sellpy second-hand platform in Romania
H&M Group has officially entered the Romanian second-hand market with the launch of Sellpy.ro, an online marketplace for pre-owned clothing and accessories. The platform operates on a consignment model where users can receive a prepaid bag to send their unwanted items to Sellpy. The company then evaluates, processes, and lists the products for sale.
Sellpy, which was founded in 2014 and operates in approximately 24 countries, aims to meet the growing consumer demand for sustainable shopping alternatives. The expansion comes as the global second-hand fashion market is projected to grow significantly, with some reports suggesting the segment is expanding two to three times faster than the overall fashion market.
In Romania, the service offers a variety of brands, including Zara, Adidas, Nike, and Burberry, alongside home goods from IKEA and H&M Home. Deliveries within the country are handled via DHL, with an estimated shipping time of four to five days.
