HM Land Registry to add property identifiers to Price Paid Data

HM Land Registry has announced that it will begin providing Unique Property Reference Numbers (UPRNs) and INSPIRE IDs alongside its monthly Price Paid Data starting August 28, 2026. These identifiers will be made available through separate lookup tables.

The initiative aims to help estate agents, lenders, investors, researchers, and homebuyers more accurately link sale prices with specific property and location datasets. By using these unique identifiers, users can reduce errors caused by inconsistent addresses or duplicate records, leading to clearer property histories and improved risk assessments.

Lynne Nicholson, Deputy Director for Data at HM Land Registry, stated that the move is part of a strategic plan to unlock data value for innovation and growth. The agency also plans to add similar lookup tables for UK and overseas companies data later this financial year to support a more digitally connected property market.
