HMD Global launches Asha 305 lightweight smartphone in the Philippines

HMD Global introduced the Asha 305 in the Philippines, positioning it as a “lite smartphone” that bridges the gap between feature phones and full‑size Android devices. The phone is priced at PHP 3,990 (about US $65) and comes in two colours.

It uses a Unisoc T137 chipset, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage and a 5‑inch LCD screen with a 480 × 854 resolution. Both rear and front cameras are 2 MP, and the device includes a removable 2,500 mAh battery claimed to deliver up to 32 hours of standby. Connectivity features include dual 4G SIM slots, Wi‑Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2 and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The Asha 305 runs Pulse OS, a lightweight Android‑AOSP based platform without Google services, offering around a hundred curated apps such as Facebook Lite, Instagram Lite, WhatsApp, TikTok Lite and YouTube. HMD markets the phone with anti‑addiction and fraud‑protection functions, targeting users in emerging markets who want basic smartphone capabilities at a very low price.
