Hünfeld approves funding for new athletics indoor hall

The city of Hünfeld has unanimously approved financial support for a new athletics indoor hall at the Rhönkampfbahn. The project, proposed by Hünfelder SV, is expected to cost approximately 2.7 million euros, with the city contributing around 540,000 euros.

The facility aims to provide year-round training capabilities for the growing athletics department, which currently relies on outdoor spaces. The Hessian Athletics Association (HLV) supports the construction, noting that the nearest indoor facilities are located 80 to 110 kilometers away from the Fulda district. The hall is intended to serve local clubs, schools, and act as a talent center for East Hesse.
