Hünfeld: Driver flees after Mercedes Sprinter crashes into wall
Police in Hünfeld-Großenbach are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a collision on Saturday, August 8. At approximately 7:30 a.m., an older model dark gray Mercedes Benz Sprinter towing a trailer loaded with scaffolding components struck a boundary wall on St. Antonius-Straße.
The force of the impact was sufficient to tear the wall from its foundation and cause damage to an adjacent residential building facade. Total property damage is estimated at approximately 10,000 euros. The driver reportedly fled toward the town center without stopping to report the accident or address the damages.
Authorities noted that the trailer likely bore Polish registration plates. The vehicle involved is expected to have significant damage to its chassis and bodywork due to the impact. The partial license plate of the Sprinter is known to start with 'HEF-'. Police are requesting that anyone with information regarding the incident contact the Hünfeld police station.
