Hünfeld hosts world record attempt for longest boxy bag chain

The fifth annual ‘Stichtag’ DIY and sewing event in Hünfeld, Germany, successfully set a new world record for the longest chain of ‘boxy bags.’ The record-breaking chain consisted of 1,783 bags, stretching 395.35 meters around the town hall.

Organized by Tanja Hahner and Sandra Kanther of the Nähdels community, the event drew hundreds of participants from across the German-speaking region. In addition to the record attempt, the weekend featured workshops, professional exhibitors, and content creators. Following the achievement, the organizers were officially entered into the city of Hünfeld’s Golden Book by Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok.
