Hưng Yên authorities seize nearly 1 ton of ASF‑infected pork at illegal processing plant

Police in Hưng Yên province discovered about one ton of pork and related animal products at a slaughter‑and‑processing facility owned by Nguyễn Trọng Khương that showed signs of African Swine Fever (ASF). Laboratory tests found seven of nine samples positive for the ASF virus.

On 27 July, investigators from the provincial police, the Crime Investigation Office, market‑management and veterinary authorities raided the site, seized 977.8 kg of meat, slaughter equipment and other tools, and destroyed the contaminated material in accordance with veterinary and food‑safety regulations. The suspect is being investigated for violating food‑safety laws under Article 317 of the Vietnamese Penal Code, and the case has been forwarded to the provincial criminal investigation bureau for further action.
