HNL Football: Hajduk Draws and Osijek Faces Organizational Turmoil
In the Croatian First Football League (HNL), Hajduk Split played to a 2-2 draw against Istra 1961. Despite holding a 2-0 lead at halftime, Hajduk conceded two goals in the second half. Former captain Hrvoje Vejić criticized the performance of Carlos Martín, noting that the Spanish striker, who joined from Atlético Madrid, has yet to meet expectations since his arrival.
Meanwhile, NK Osijek is experiencing significant internal instability. The club has faced a series of setbacks, including losing a multi-million euro legal dispute, losing key players, and exiting the Cup. The club recently announced the departure of sporting director Kenneth Zandvliet after only five months.
Under the leadership of President Alexandra Végh, Osijek is undergoing major organizational changes, including the dissolution of much of its media team and the establishment of a new Performance Department led by Paul White. These changes have reportedly caused dissatisfaction and fear among employees due to frequent layoffs and centralized decision-making.
