HNV BiH supports constitutional reform to abolish entities

The Croatian National Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HNV BiH) has expressed full support for a constitutional reform proposal put forward by Günther Fehlinger, president of the Austrian Committee for NATO Enlargement. The proposal suggests abolishing the current ethnic entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and replacing them with a modern European federation composed of ten autonomous cantons.

HNV BiH argues that this restructuring would ensure national unity while maintaining a multi-ethnic character and fostering democratic relations. They claim the reform would remove institutional blockades stemming from the Dayton Agreement, prevent secessionist movements, and eliminate the expensive and inefficient administrative layers produced by the current system.

The council noted that Fehlinger’s plan is a rationalized version of a concept they originally adopted in February 1994. They asserted that the current Dayton-based arrangement has proven irrational and dysfunctional, leading to unclear jurisdictions and an unsustainable state administration.
