Ho Chi Minh City diamond shops remain closed despite reopening promises

Several luxury diamond retailers in Ho Chi Minh City announced short‑term suspensions in late July and said they would resume business in early August. As of 3 August, the shops – including Thành Lợi Luxury on Nguyễn Văn Cừ, Ngọc Châu Âu (NCA Luxury Jewelry) on Trần Hưng Đạo, Kim Châu in An Đông, Ngọc Tâm and Hoàng Thứ in Bến Thành – are still locked, with shutters down, signage unchanged and interior lights off.

Customers who arrive find empty storefronts; a few guards who were on duty earlier have left. One shop’s owner has reportedly been taken into custody by authorities, adding uncertainty about when normal operations can resume. The prolonged closures have left shoppers uneasy and questioning the timeline for the promised reopenings.
