Ho Chi Minh City digitizes food safety via Green Tick program

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade has implemented a digitalization program for food safety through the ‘Green Tick Responsibility’ initiative. As of August 2024, the program has seen significant participation from the business community.

To date, 8,749 products from 944 suppliers have registered for the program. Following a rigorous assessment and evaluation process, 5,716 products from 467 suppliers have been certified and are officially circulating in the market.

The initiative has established a wide supply-demand network, involving 12 leading retail corporations and a network of over 10,010 supermarkets and points of sale nationwide. This network connects hundreds of agricultural and essential food suppliers from 25 provinces and cities to Ho Chi Minh City.

The program aims to create a mechanism for self-monitoring and responsibility among producers, distributors, and regulatory agencies. By utilizing technology to control quality throughout the supply chain, the initiative seeks to prevent food poisoning risks from bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, and Botulinum during processing, transportation, and storage.
