Ho Chi Minh City exceeds one million free health screenings, launches e‑health record initiative

Within two months of launching its universal health‑check program, Ho Chi Minh City (TPHCM) has screened and created electronic health records for more than one million residents. Director of the city's Health Department, Tang Chi Thuong, called the milestone significant, noting that the electronic records will allow continuous health monitoring, early detection of chronic conditions, and a shift from reactive treatment to proactive care.

The program operates through 168 fixed health stations across wards and hospitals, supplemented by mobile teams visiting workplaces, schools, and homes for the elderly and disabled. All examination results are uploaded to a community health management platform, with plans to fully integrate health data by the end of 2026 so citizens will no longer need to repeat basic health information at different facilities. The city aims to complete health checks for all residents by the target year, establishing a modern health‑data ecosystem.

The initiative is positioned as a foundation for a future digital health system, improving both individual patient care and overall public‑health management in Vietnam's largest metropolis.
