Ho Chi Minh City expands free health checkup eligibility
Ho Chi Minh City has expanded its free periodic health checkup program to include residents who do not meet permanent or temporary residency requirements. To qualify, individuals must have their current local residence verified through a level 2 electronic identification account on the VNeID application.
As of October 19, the city has conducted health screenings for over 6.3 million people. This group includes approximately 2.27 million students, 1.24 million workers, and 128,835 university students. The Department of Health noted high progress among students but emphasized the need to increase focus on the worker and student populations in the coming period.
In terms of facility quality, the Department of Health has evaluated 50 medical establishments, with 44% rated as Class A and 56% as Class B. Moving forward, the city plans to extend these evaluations to private polyclinics to improve service quality and identify effective healthcare models.
