Vietnam weather: Northern heatwave to be followed by cold front
Vietnam is experiencing varied weather patterns across its regions. Northern Vietnam is currently facing hot, sunny conditions with temperatures in some areas exceeding 35 degrees Celsius. However, a weak cold air mass from southern China is expected to arrive around the night of September 30, which will likely bring scattered showers and thunderstorms, potentially lowering temperatures by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.
In Central Vietnam, from Thanh Hoa to Hue, the weather remains mostly sunny with occasional heat, though thunderstorms may occur in the evenings. The Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam are seeing more frequent rainfall, particularly in the afternoons and evenings, with some areas experiencing heavy localized rain.
In Ho Chi Minh City, high tides are a significant concern, with water levels at several stations expected to reach or exceed alarm level 3. This, combined with potential heavy rainfall, increases the risk of flooding in low-lying areas. Authorities have warned of extreme weather phenomena including lightning, hail, and strong wind gusts during thunderstorms.
