Ho Chi Minh City intensifies urban greenery safety inspections
Ho Chi Minh City is intensifying inspections and management of urban greenery following several incidents involving uprooted trees. On October 7, a large Bodhi tree fell at a major intersection in Tan Dinh ward, causing significant traffic disruption despite normal weather conditions. On October 9, two large flame trees in Tan Hung ward uprooted, striking utility poles and damaging parked vehicles.
In response, the City Department of Construction has issued directives for local authorities and infrastructure managers to proactively assess the safety of technical infrastructure. Efforts are being focused on reviewing the entire system of street trees, parks, and residential greenery to identify and replace trees that are diseased, aged, or structurally unstable. Priority is being given to inspecting large species and trees whose root systems may have been compromised by ongoing construction projects.
