Vietnam aims for first VIFC-HCMC transactions by November 2026
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang, Chairman of the Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFC) Executive Council, has directed the Ho Chi Minh City branch (VIFC-HCMC) to accelerate its transition from organizational establishment to substantive operations. The goal is to facilitate the center's first official transactions by November 2026.
During the 2026 Autumn Economic Forum (AEF), discussions focused on resolving regulatory bottlenecks. Key issues raised by banks and investors include speeding up the licensing process for member banks, establishing mechanisms for capital transactions during licensing transitions, and refining tax incentives, asset management, and dispute resolution frameworks.
Additionally, stakeholders proposed developing new financial products, such as green finance, aviation finance, and trade finance, to attract international capital. SonKim Capital IFC has already been recognized as an official member of VIFC-HCMC, marking a significant step in connecting international capital with Vietnamese assets.
