The Autumn Economic Forum 2026 (AEF 2026) took place in Ho Chi Minh City from October 26 to 29, themed ‘Spirit of Cooperation in a New Era’. The event, co-branded with the World Economic Forum (WEF), focused on the convergence of global growth poles, technological breakthroughs, and the role of megacities in international connectivity.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung participated in high-level sessions, emphasizing that Vietnam seeks to move beyond being a mere production base to becoming a hub for research, development, and innovation in strategic sectors like AI and semiconductors. He proposed four cooperation directions, including establishing co-innovation partnerships between international corporations and local entities, and creating regulatory sandboxes for strategic technologies.

During the forum, Ho Chi Minh City authorities announced 12 major investment projects with a total estimated value of over $13 billion. Notable projects include the $4.923 billion Can Gio International Transshipment Port and the $2.292 billion Thu Thiem New Urban Area smart complex. The forum attracted over 2,500 registered delegates and 214 speakers from more than 170 organizations across 27 countries.
