Ho Chi Minh City launches 150‑day health‑check campaign to cover all residents

Ho Chi Minh City has begun a 150‑day intensive campaign, announced on 16 July 2026, to provide a complete health assessment and electronic medical record for every resident by 15 December 2026. More than 10,000 health professionals and 480 public and private medical facilities are involved, deploying mobile teams to workplaces, schools and community centres. The city, with roughly 16 million inhabitants, aims to shift from treatment‑oriented care to preventive, data‑driven health management.

Within two months the programme examined over 550,000 people, and since the start of 2026 more than 1.1 million citizens have received examinations. Specific plans target 6.5 million formal‑sector workers, 2.7 million students, 800 000 university students and vulnerable groups such as the elderly and informal‑sector workers, with home visits for those unable to travel. All results are automatically uploaded to an electronic health dossier that will support lifelong health monitoring.

The effort involves coordination between the municipal health department, local authorities in all 168 communes, districts and special zones, and every public and private hospital in the city, creating a permanent partnership between hospitals and primary‑care facilities for ongoing preventive services.
