Ho Chi Minh City launches Plastic Circular Journey 2026

The Environmental Agency of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in collaboration with Unilever Vietnam, has launched the ‘Plastic Circular Journey 2026’ in Ho Chi Minh City. The initiative aims to advance the circular economy through two primary strategic activities: a partnership to implement domestic solid waste sorting at the source and the launch of the ‘Plastic Circular Innovation Solutions 2026’ competition.

The program seeks to expand the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) model across residential areas, schools, and traditional markets. This effort aligns with Vietnam’s national action plan for a circular economy through 2035 and the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations.

Officials emphasized that while policy frameworks are essential, success depends on integrating technology, infrastructure, and practical solutions. Unilever Vietnam expressed its commitment to supporting Vietnam’s green growth goals by improving material quality and fostering market demand for recycled resources.
