Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital faces radiotherapy delays

Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital is facing significant delays in radiotherapy services due to high patient volume. The facility receives between 4,800 and 5,000 patients daily, with approximately 750 to 800 requiring radiotherapy.

Patients report waiting between three weeks to one month to begin treatment. Some patients, fearing disease progression during the wait, have opted to pay for private services to bypass the queues associated with health insurance. Similar delays have been noted at other facilities, such as Military Hospital 175, where patients with health insurance may wait three to five weeks for scheduled radiotherapy.
