Ho Chi Minh City police arrest trio for lottery ticket fraud

Ho Chi Minh City police have arrested three individuals—Lê Hữu Thông, Nguyễn Hoài Nam, and Nguyễn Văn Ngọc—for operating a scheme involving counterfeit winning lottery tickets.

The group targeted street vendors in the Hiệp Phước area. According to investigators, the suspects purchased fake lottery tickets for approximately 50,000 VND each and used them to defraud vendors by claiming prizes. In one instance, a vendor lost 2.4 million VND after being tricked with 12 counterfeit tickets.

Nguyễn Hoài Nam is identified as the individual responsible for using machinery to produce the fake tickets, while Thông and Ngọc carried out the fraudulent exchanges. Authorities are currently seeking additional victims of this scheme and have requested that anyone affected contact the Hiệp Phước Commune Police.
