Ho Chi Minh City police arrest two drivers after violent clash at city centre intersection
On July 12, 2026, a confrontation between drivers of a Porsche and a Mitsubishi escalated at the Nguyen Du – Huyen Tran Cong Chua intersection in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Dương Quốc Thái (42) and Trần Thanh Lâm (46) stopped their vehicles in the middle of the intersection, exchanged insults, smashed each other's cars, and chased one another, causing a traffic jam and drawing a curious crowd.
The police investigated the incident, seized both vehicles and placed the drivers under emergency detention for "causing disorder to public order." Police officials warned that stopping a vehicle in the road to fight "can be subject to criminal prosecution" and urged the public to remain calm and avoid self‑help in traffic disputes.
