Ho Chi Minh City police detain man for stabbing officer

Police in Ho Chi Minh City have detained 21-year-old Nguyễn Anh Hào following a violent confrontation with traffic officers on To Hien Thanh Street.

During a patrol around 1:50 a.m. on October 11, officers from the Ban Co Traffic Police Team observed Hào operating a motorcycle with suspicious behavior. When signaled to stop for an inspection, Hào attempted to flee, lost control of his vehicle, and crashed. After falling, he abandoned the motorcycle and attempted to escape on foot.

As Major Lâm Dương Khách approached to continue the inspection, Hào reportedly drew a knife hidden in a crossbody bag and stabbed the officer multiple times in the head area. Hào was subsequently subdued and arrested at the scene by the responding officers and local ward police.

A breathalyzer test conducted at the police station recorded Hào's blood alcohol content at 0.608 mg/L. He is currently being held by the Dien Hong Ward Police to investigate charges of resisting law enforcement.
