Vietnam police seize 16 kg TNT, bust online gambling and drug rings in July 2026
In July 2026 Vietnamese police carried out a series of crackdowns on illicit activities. In Ho Chi Minh City, a joint operation seized 16.1 kg of military‑grade TNT, confiscated related equipment and placed eight suspects in pre‑trial detention for illegal purchase, transport and storage of explosives. The same week, Da Nang authorities dismantled several large‑scale illegal betting networks tied to the 2026 World Cup, seizing documentation of nearly 60 billion VND in wagers and detaining up to sixteen persons across multiple raids. Earlier, Da Nang police also arrested five individuals, including a 33‑year‑old woman, for organizing drug‑use sites and trafficking narcotics. In Hanoi, investigators broke up two groups selling biometric‑bypass software and hardware, charging nine suspects and linking the tools to a fraud scheme that stole more than 14 billion VND from bank customers. Across the operations, authorities seized thousands of pages of evidence, numerous electronic devices and large sums of illicit money, highlighting an intensified law‑enforcement drive against organized crime, illegal gambling, drug trafficking and cyber‑enabled fraud in Vietnam.
